University of Georgia running back, Nick Chubb, a returning senior, was named to the 2017 preseason All American team by the Associated Press.
As the only Georgia player on the preseason AP All- American first and second teams, Chubb comes into the 2017 football season having 3,424 rushing yards, the second most in Georgia history. Herschel Walker had 5,259 yards, which is the program’s all-time leader as well as the SEC’s highest career rushing record.
As a junior, Chubb rushed for 1,130 yards. This marked the second 1,000-yard season of Chubb’s career after he tallied 1,547 yards and 15 scores as a freshman in 2014. He was named the SEC Freshman of the Year and a Freshman All-American following his first year.
Five players from the SEC made the AP’s pre-season team. In addition, Chubb was named Collegiate Athlete of the Year by the Atlanta Sports Council in July.
The Bulldogs open the 2017 season at Sanford Stadium in Athens on September 2 against Appalachian State. ESPN will televise the game at 6:15 p.m.
