As always, Mike Ragland has provided some great history on great local events. Please come out this weekend and support local artists from Cave Spring and Rome. Mike says the weather will be great and vendors are still calling in to book spaces. The information about these amazing events, listed below, are from Mike Ragland, as only Mike Ragland can tell.
Fourteen years ago..the principal of Cave Spring Elementary, Susan Childers, and her daughter Amanda decided to have a few friends over to their home and offer some of their Arts and Crafts to others that may be interested. Susan and her husband fed everybody that came and after nine years it had grown so big they had no room left, and parking was non existent..so they moved it to Rolater Park in Cave Spring.
This will be the fifth year it has been in Cave Spring, and it has grown every year. Susan told me this morning she had 165 vendors signed up, and expected several more to call after they saw the beautiful weather forecast. Although she retired in 2011, she uses her organizational skills to put together one of the premier Christmas festivals in Northwest Georgia and the edge of Alabama. There is still no admission charges, and she only allows very few duplication.
Small Town Christmas in the Country’ is this weekend, December 2nd and 3rd from 10:00 A.M. till 4:00 P.M. both days.
At the same time, the ‘Winter Art Market’ in Rome, Georgia will offer 70 high-end vendors at the Rome Civic Center. This is their 6th year, and is a quality show. Also there is no Admission. I have friends at that show. Elaine Chamberlain ‘Mustard Seed Soaps’. (Where do you think she got that name, Mustard Seed. Yeah, she’s a preacher’s daughter, from the great state of Texas)and Judith Johnson Frasure, Lucy’s illustrator will have her beautiful creations to pick thru also, along with some Lucy books. So there you have it. You got two days to make both events. This is where you find that one of a kind gift for the impossible person on your gift list to buy for, and pick up some stocking stuffers also. Find me in the Hearne Academy, come by and say Howdy…and Merry Christmas.
