Arrangements for the return of Sgt. Barry Sutton’s arrival back in Rome have been finalized, according to Major Tom Ewing of the Floyd County Police Department.
Sgt. Barry Sutton, a former Rome-Floyd County law enforcement officer, was killed in Afghanistan working as a private, civilian contractor for DynCorp International.
Sutton’s remains will arrive at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport around 9pm on Friday night, August 28.
Sgt. Sutton’s escort back to Rome will travel -75 North through Cartersville, to Highway 411 into Floyd County, and will arrive in Rome around 10:30pm, taking Turner McCall Boulevard onto Highway 27.
Henderson and Sons Funeral home (4900 Martha Berry Highway) will receive Sgt. Sutton’s body Friday night, and will have charge of the arrangements.
