Officer Kristen Hearne was remembered last night at the Cedartown High School Football game. A moment of silence, playing of taps, and the players walked out carrying a blue and white American flag. Officer Hearne was brought home from the GBI Crime Lab last night. Police officers were part of the procession as her body was escorted to the funeral home.
Reports from the GBI Crime Lab have stated that Officer Hearne was shot multiple times and that a bulletproof vest would not have saved her life. Seth Spangler and Samantha Roof have been charged with felon murder, aggravated assault, and other crimes. Bond was denied at the first appearance. An appearance in Superior Court has not been scheduled at this time.
Officer Kristen Hearne leaves behind a 3 year old son, a husband, many other family members, friends, and co-workers. Matt Hearne called his wife “a hero who was dedicated to not only her job but being the best mother she could be.”
