When the 2018 legislative session kicks off in January, there will be a new set of cameras in Senate committee hearing rooms.
The state senate will begin live streaming committee meetings so members of the public can watch the meetings in real-time on the web.
State Senator and Senate Pro tem David Shafer, a Republican who is also running for Lieutenant Governor, said that everything is in place for the committee meetings to be broadcast during session.
“I think we do a better job when people are watching us,” Shafer said in an interview with The Tifton Gazette. “And Georgians should not have to take off time from work or travel to Atlanta to see their legislators at work – at least not in the 21st century.”
Georgians can already watch the House and Senate floor where the entire bodies vote on legislation on their respective websites.
