After and hour and forty minute rain delay, the Atlanta Braves held on for a 2-1 win over the Reds in game one of a three game road series.
Cincinnati drew first blood, with an early run in the bottom of the second inning on a Tucker Barnhart RBI, but Atlanta would tie the game at 1-1 when Andrelton Simmons homered off Mike Leake in the bottom of the fourth. It was his ninth of the season.
Shelby Miller went seven strong innings posting eight strikeouts, walking only two, and giving up only one run.
The game stayed tied at one all, until a wild pitch in the top of the ninth inning allowed Phil Gosselin, who had just stolen third base, to cross home plate for what would be the winning run. Luis Avilan got his first win of the season in relief.
The two teams will face off again Tuesday night at 7:10.
